We’re on the lookout for a talented journalist to join our team as their business reporter is the UK’s leading website for accountants and finance professionals. For more than 20 years it has provided trusted insight to UK accountants seeking concise answers on compliance, business and technology issues to help them do their jobs better.

This role will focus on owning the editorial strategy and output for the business audience of AccountingWEB, producing content for our audience of ambitious finance directors and CFOs.

Suitable for an aspiring early-career journalist looking to establish a presence in the trade, this highly-visible editorial role is crucial to growing this important part of the AccountingWEB audience. 

We need an organised individual with a passion for all things commerce who is creative, collaborative and commercially-minded, and will use this opportunity to grow the website traffic and their career.

The content you create will be audience-facing and designed to engage a professional community of accountants across a variety of platforms, including written articles, podcasts, videos and events.

Writing experience is preferred, ideally in the field of business, B2B, finance and/or accounting journalism. Knowledge of how finance departments function and businesses operate is preferred, with an interest in accounting software, tax or fintech an advantage.

To succeed in this role, you’ll be self-motivated, highly organised and an excellent communicator. A professional attitude is a must, as is the ability to work collaboratively and forge strong relationships with both the editorial team and the AccountingWEB audience.

Essential requirements:

  • A track record in producing high-quality content across a variety of platforms to tight deadlines.
  • The ability to communicate complex topics accurately in a clear, jargon-free writing style.
  • Understanding and interest in the business and accountancy market and its professional audience.
  • Experience in audience building through editorial strategy, outreach, optimised content and social media.
  • Experience in working with commercial content and supporting sales teams.
  • Good people and communication skills to deal with a wide range of contacts.

Preferred Requirements:

  • B2B background
  • Experience in accounting/financial/business publishing sector
  • Experience of rich media including podcasting and video
  • Performance management and line management
