The Greener Sift team was proud and delighted last week to win the ‘Best Newcomer’ in the ‘Sustainable Sourcing’ category at Bristol’s 2016 Go Green awards. Sift was a full part of Bristol’s European Green Capital year in 2015, so to win the award when the city was putting so much emphasis on green initiatives was a major coup.
Ben Heald, Rachel Bick and Triana Murtagh from the Greener Sift team went along to the went to the award ceremony at the Bristol Hotel and were very pleasantly surprised to find that we won the very first award! We’ve received a lot of positive publicity following on from this.
The award recognised the extensive sourcing review Greener Sift conducted in 2015, which resulted in us moving to local and organic milk from Jess’ Ladies, fresh bread from Joe’s Bakery, fairtrade coffee, local butter, kitchen supplies from a sustainable supplier, responsibly sourced fruit, locally made company lunches, eco-friendly cleaning supplies, etc. And in particular the way we did this inclusively, by running regular testing trials in the kitchen taking soundings from all staff.
The team are committed to pushing on with green initiatives in 2016 and beyond.
